Account Ban Help

Day 6 since the March 27 bans: what's actually helped people so far (collected from here + other groups)

I got hit on the 27th like a lot of you (Minnesota, FB + IG + Threads at once, a bit after 1pm). I've been reading basically every thread I can find, so here's a summary. Not an expert, just organized and anxious. Corrections welcome. WHAT SEEMS TO HELP - One appeal through the official button on the notice. Then leave it. Several people who got back in during the first week did nothing else. - If you're asked for a video selfie: good light, no glasses or hat, face the camera, turn slowly when it tells you to. If your profile has zero photos of your face this may not work, sadly. - Screenshot the notice with the date. Write down when it happened. Keep every email (and check the sender is really Meta). - If you were hacked rather than disabled, use the hacked pages (facebook.com/hacked or instagram.com/hacked). It's a different process. WHAT SEEMS TO HURT - Making a new account. Multiple people had the new one disabled within hours, and now their notice says 'associated with another account'. - Submitting the appeal or selfie over and over. No evidence it helps, and some people think it resets your place. - Anyone who messages you offering to get it back for money. Scam. Every single time. MIXED / LOTTERY - Meta Verified bought on a partner's or second account: a few people say they got a human who actually helped, many got 'the decision is final'. - The new AI support assistant: a couple of people say it opened a review, most describe going in circles. - Complaints to your state AG or the FTC: good for the paper trail, but nobody I've seen has said it brought an account back (yet). Restorations I've seen so far: a handful in the first 3-4 days, no obvious pattern in who. Mostly people who did one appeal and waited. I'll update if I learn more. Be kind to yourselves.

  1. Thank you for this. Bookmarking.
  2. One addition: start a Download Your Information on any account you can still get into. I'm doing my wife's right now in case hers is next.
  3. Respectfully, is the 'never apologise or admit anything in your appeal' thing true? Someone in another group was very sure about it and now I'm second guessing what I wrote
    1. @tash I've seen it too but I haven't seen any evidence either way. I'd just be honest and short: what the account is, that you don't believe you broke the rule, and that you're asking for a review.
  4. agree with Corinne. there's a lot of folklore going around. same with 'delete the app for 30 days and it resets'. no proof of any of that.
  5. EDIT/UPDATE: mine came back on April 10. I did one appeal and one selfie, nothing else. Still no idea why it happened or why it came back. Leaving this up for anyone still waiting.
