I promised myself I'd write this up if it ever worked, so here it is. Netherlands, personal account, about 1,100 followers, mostly cycling and photography.
WHAT HAPPENED
- 3 Nov 2025: account suspended for 'bullying and harassment'. As far as I can tell it was a comment thread where I argued with a friend about football. Both of us joking. He even tried to report it as a mistake for me, lol.
- Appealed in the app the same day. Rejected the next morning.
- Tried the new support hub in December. Went in circles.
APPEALS CENTRE EUROPE
- 12 Dec 2025: filed a dispute on their website. It's free for users. You need the details of the decision, so screenshot your notice. They also asked whether I'd used Meta's own appeal first.
- They said they would ask Meta for the content and the reasoning. Then it was quiet for a few weeks.
- 19 Feb 2026: email with their decision. They found the suspension wasn't in line with the policy. They were clear that their decisions are not binding on the platform.
- 6 Mar 2026: account back. No email from Meta, it just worked when I tried to log in.
WHAT I'D TELL ANYONE IN THE EU
1. Check the scope first. They don't take everything. As far as I understand hacked accounts, impersonation, fake account and child abuse material cases are outside it, so read their site before you file.
2. Do Meta's own appeal first and keep the screenshot of the rejection.
3. Be patient. Mine took about 3 months from filing to getting back in.
4. There are other certified bodies as well, depending on your case and language.
Good luck. Happy to answer questions.
