Me han inhabilitado por "explotación sexual infantil" y soy maestra de tercer grado. Ni siquiera sé por dónde empezar.

I'm honestly shaking typing this. Got logged out of Instagram around 6 tonight, tried to log back in and it says my account is disabled for going against our standards on child sexual exploitation, abuse and nudity. My Facebook went at the same time (they're linked in Accounts Center). Some context bc I know how this sounds: - I teach 3rd grade. I have NEVER posted a photo of a student. District policy and also just... no. - My account is my dog, hiking, and my nephew's soccer games from like 2019 (fully clothed, outdoors, obviously) - No warning before this. No removed posts, nothing in Account Status that I ever saw. I hit 'Disagree with decision' and wrote a short explanation. About 20 min later it came back rejected and now it just says I have 180 days and there's no button anymore. 180 days to do what?? The part that really scares me is the notice says they may share information with authorities / a child safety organization. Is that going to show up on a background check? I have to renew my license next year. Has anyone been through the CSE one specifically and gotten anywhere? What should I do and NOT do tonight?

You're not the first teacher I've seen post this exact notice. Deep breath. From what I've read a lot of the CSE disables this year seem to be automated mistakes, not an actual person reporting you. Screenshot everything right now - the notice, the date, the 180 days text.

Same notice in August, I'm a school photographer. Please don't make a new account. I did, it got disabled in a few hours and now my original notice also says something about 'associated accounts'. Definately made it worse.

@kelly in KC thank you. did yours ever come back?

not yet, 11 weeks. but I know of two people who got theirs back, one after 5 weeks and one randomly after 3 months. it's not always permanent even when it says it is.

On the background check worry: not a lawyer, but an app disabling your account is not a criminal record or a charge. If it's really eating at you, talk to your union rep, they've probably seen this before by now. And write down a timeline of what happened while it's fresh.

Try 'Download your information' from the disabled screen if you see the option. Some people say it works for a while after the disable, some say not. Worth a shot before anything else changes.

There's a change.org petition about exactly this (wrongful disables, no human support). Won't fix your account but it's close to 50k signatures now I think, and journalists do pay attention to that stuff.

Small update for anyone who finds this later: still disabled. I did one appeal only, saved everything, and told my principal myself so it doesn't come out weird later. She was really kind about it and said a friend of hers had the same thing happen. I feel a lot less alone than I did last week. Thank you all.

@brookeh still nothing, day 33. I'm sorry you're in it too. One careful appeal, don't spam it, and back up anything that only lived on IG (check your camera roll and any old phones). And try to get some sleep, I know.
