Posting this so maybe one person doesn't do what I did.
When my IG got disabled I posted about it on Threads from my other account. Within an hour I had like 15 replies saying DM this guy, he got my account back in 2 hours, all from accounts with stock-photo faces. One 'ethical hacker' wanted $150 upfront, crypto only. I was desperate so I paid. Then it was $200 for 'final verification' because Meta's system had 'flagged the bypass'. Paid that too (I know). Then he wanted $300 more and that's when I stopped.
Account never came back obviously.
- Nobody outside Meta can reinstate your account. Nobody.
- The 'former victims' vouching in the comments are part of it.
- Payment in crypto or gift cards = scam, full stop.
- Never give anyone your login or the 6 digit codes.
Reported it to IC3 and my bank. Money's gone. Feel like an idiot but whatever, lesson learned.
