Why this site exists

Since 2025, people in many countries have reported Instagram and Facebook accounts being disabled without warning. Information about it is scattered across many places and languages, and there are warnings about ‘account recovery’ scams that target people in this situation.

This site brings sourced information together in one place and gives people who have been through the same thing a space to share their experience, whatever their country or language. The rules are set out on this page.

Posting

• Anyone can post and comment without an account. Leave the nickname empty to appear as “Anonymous”.
• You choose a password when you post or comment. With it you can edit or delete your post, or delete your comment. It must have at least 6 characters, and easy passwords such as 123456 or password are not accepted. Passwords are stored only in a form that cannot be turned back (a hash), so a forgotten password cannot be recovered.
• To prevent flooding, one connection (by IP address) can send up to 5 posts, 20 comments and 20 reports in 10 minutes, and up to 30 reports a day. After 10 wrong passwords from one connection in 10 minutes, or 20 wrong passwords for one post or comment in an hour, further tries are blocked for a while.
• Posts and comments by the admin are marked “Admin”.

Community rules

Everyone must follow these rules:

• Do not post other people’s personal information (real names, contact details, addresses, account details).
• Never post login codes, passwords or ID documents — not even your own.
• No ads for paid ‘account recovery’ services.
• Do not recommend or promote a particular recovery service, or present a recovery as the result of such a service.
• Do not write reviews for a reward (money, discounts, gifts) or on someone else’s behalf.
• No scams, harassment, hate speech or illegal content.
• Do not impersonate other people or organisations (including Meta staff or this site’s admin).

Moderation

• Anyone can report posts and comments that break the rules. No sign-in is needed.
• Each IP address can report a post or comment once. Once it has 7 or more unresolved reports that came from at least five different networks (IP address ranges), it is hidden automatically until the admin reviews it. Reports from a single network cannot hide anything. Posts by the admin are not hidden automatically; the admin reviews those reports directly.
• The admin may hide or remove posts and comments that break the rules or the law.

Removal requests from people whose rights are affected

If a post infringes your rights — for example your privacy or reputation — you can ask for it to be removed by writing to the contact email (metaaccountbanhelp@proton.me). Please include the address of the post, why you believe it infringes your rights, and information showing that you are the person affected.

The admin will act without delay, for example by removing the post, and will let you know. Authors leave no contact details, so they are told by a notice on the boards. Where it is hard to tell whether rights are infringed, or a dispute is likely, access to the post may be blocked temporarily for up to 30 days during the review, as Article 44-2 of Korea’s Network Act provides.

Translation

The text of posts and comments is always shown in the language it was written in. Titles of posts in other languages are translated automatically by Google Translate when the post is published and shown in every language of the site, so you can tell what a post from any country is about straight from the list. Translated titles are marked as such, and the original title is shown on the post. To read posts and comments in another language, use your browser’s translate feature. Machine translations may be inaccurate, and the original is what the author wrote.
