Douze ans de photos, dont les dernières de mon père. Je ne suis même plus en colère, juste triste.

Brisbane. My Facebook and Instagram went in March, the reason given was child sexual exploitation, which I can't even type without feeling ill. I'm a 52 year old woman who posted her garden, her grandkids at the beach and her dad. Dad passed in 2023. The last photos of him at his 80th, the videos of him singing at Christmas, they were on Facebook. My phone from back then died and I never backed it up because why would I, it was on Facebook. I've appealed, been rejected, tried the support hub, tried the chatbot. I'm not really after advice. I just needed to say it somewhere people get it.

I'm so sorry. Losing the account is one thing, losing your dad's voice is something else. You're among people who get it here.

Big hug from Adelaide. Something gentle to try when you're ready: ask family and friends if they still have the photos and videos, especially anyone who was there or who you sent them to on Messenger. My aunt had copies of nearly everything I thought I'd lost.

Oh. I hadn't even thought of that. My brother was at the 80th. Thank you.

So sorry. Not sure how it works in Australia, but in the UK we can make a data request to get a copy even when the account is disabled. Does anyone from AU know if there's an equivalent?

@Emma W I believe the Privacy Act lets you ask an organisation for access to your personal information, but I haven't tried it with Meta so no idea how they respond. Might be worth a go.

My brother had 6 of the videos on his old laptop. Including the Christmas one. I cried for an hour. Thank you all, truly.
